Obituary

CAMBRIDGE-Alice Larkin, 93, of Cambridge, died Friday, December 19, 2008 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. Alice was born April 14, 1915 at Iowa City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harry and Maud (Akin) Jenks. She graduated from Drake College and then taught school until she married. On May 28, 1941, she was united in marriage to Forest Glenn Larkin in Gilman, Iowa. Alice and Forest lived on the farm near Cambridge until 1960 when they moved into town. Forest preceded Alice in death on July 5, 1986. She was a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church and UMW, and was a past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star. Alice enjoyed reading, her yard, sewing, watching sports, and being a member of the Ballard Bleacher Buddies. She loved her great-grandchildren and loved to be doing something for someone. Alice loved life! Alice is survived by her son: Kenneth Larkin of Cambridge, Iowa; her daughter: Barbara Breer of Ankeny, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Wendy (Randy) Dubberke, Douglas (Holly) Larkin, Bradley Eaves; and 5 great-grandchildren: Lerin Dubberke, Alanna Dubberke, Taylor Larkin, Emily Larkin, and Brooklynn Eaves. Alice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her daughter-in-law, Judy Larkin. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Tuesday at the Cambridge United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Center Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30 - 8:00 PM Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alice Larkin Memorial Fund. The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
