Obituary

Cecil Lee Ogburn, 94, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Collins, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2016, at the Oldorff Mercy Hospice House in Hiawatha. Cecil was born January 2, 1922, the son of John Rollie and Minnie Agnes (Lamb) Ogburn. He graduated high school in 1941 from Prairie City High and was united in marriage to Beatrice Bell on March 26, 1943, in Bethany, Missouri. Cecil served in the United States Army during WWII until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was a member of the Collins United Methodist Church in Collins, Lions Club of Collins and had been involved in the Masonic Lodge and as a Shriner. Cecil is survived by his wife, Beatrice of Cedar Rapids; his daughter, Susan (Curtis) Stringham of Cedar Rapids; her granddaughter, Andrea (Adam) Kraus of Cedar Rapids; two great-grandchildren Kale and Shiloh along with several nieces and nephews. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dale Ogburn. Cecil has been cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at the Colo Cemetery. Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
