Obituary

Clyde Yazel, 101, of Maxwell, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012, at Eldora Nursing and Rehab in Eldora. Clyde was born December 24, 1910, in White Oak, Iowa to Dean and Ida (Yarnell) Yazel. On January 9, 1932, he married Elsie H. Cox in Des Moines. Clyde was a carpenter in Washington State during WWII then returned to Maxwell to farm with his dad. He continued farming until 1976, and then moved into town. Clyde was associated with the Maxwell United Methodist Church and enjoyed fishing, growing potatoes and raising hogs. Clyde is survived by his sons, Phillip (Joyce) Yazel of Mission, TX and Donald (Teddy) Yazel of Maxwell; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren. Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Elsie in 1999; two grandsons: Mitchell and Allan; and three sisters: Alda, Ruby and Doris. Visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012, at Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 5, 2012, at the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell Fire and Rescue Department. Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements.
