Obituary

Creta I. Bishop, of Cambridge, passed away April 9, 2017, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Creta was born November 29, 1923, in Corning, Kansas the daughter of Rollie and Mamie (Fosgate) Cox. She was united in marriage to Loyd Bishop on June 25, 1963. Creta retired from AMF Western Tool and Die in 1985. Creta enjoyed embroidery and spent many years at the ABWA Craft Fair in Nevada. She was an avid Hawkeye basketball fan. She was well known for her bread and butter pickles and zucchini bread. Creta is survived by her daughter Saundra Rush of Cambridge; her son Randy (Sandra) Meier of Pleasant Hill; her daughter Brenda (Brian) Alleman of Slater; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. Creta is preceded in death by her parents, Rollie and Mamie Cox; her husband, Loyd Bishop; her brother, Leonard "Burton" Cox; her sister, June Houck; her ex-husband, Milton M. Meier; her step-daughter, Linda Sue Allen and a granddaughter, Teres Meier. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada (1418 Fawcett Pkwy.). Funeral services will be Thursday, April 13, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. also at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the Center Grove Cemetery near Cambridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090. Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
