Dale Overton, 69, of Union, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the VA Medical Center in Des Moines. Dale was born June 18, 1944, in Osceola to Floyd and Oneta (Garris) Overton. He graduated from Osceola High School in 1962, and served in the United States Navy from 1962 until his honorable discharge in 1966. Dale was united in marriage to Marla Deles Dernier on June 18, 1996, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked as a lineman for MidAmerican Energy, retiring in 2006. Dale enjoyed fishing, NASCAR, being outdoors and loved his grandchildren. Dale is survived by his wife, Marla, of Union; his son, Duane (Allison) Overton of Phoenix, AZ; his grandchildren, Austin, Carson and Conner; his sisters, Evelyn (Ronald) Pollard of Chariton and Sharon Greene of Tilden, Nebraska; along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Kelley Overton; and a sister, Bonnie Davis. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada with Brenda Hobson officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow.
