CAMBRIDGE - David J. Avery, 69, of Cambridge died Friday, March 31, 2006 at his home in Cambridge. David Avery was born March 20, 1937 in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Theodosia (Bissell) Avery. He was united in marriage to Lilly Rose on September 10, 1966 in Des Moines, Iowa. David owned and operated the Air Compressor Service Company in Des Moines for many years until retiring in 1998. David was a member of the House of Knowledge Coffee Club of Cambridge and the American Numismatic Association. He enjoyed coin collecting, fishing and traveling. David is survived by his wife, Lilly Avery of Cambridge; a sister and brother-in-law: Nancy and Ralph Smouse of Montour, Iowa; two nieces: Kathy (Larry) Smouse-Hulse of Des Moines, Iowa, Julie (Ron) Metz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and a nephew: Jeff (Doris) Smouse of Urbandale, Iowa. His parents and a half brother, Val Avery, preceded David in death. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Burial will be at 12:15 pm Monday in Maple Hill Cemetery at Montour, Iowa. Visitation will be 2:00 - 4:00 pm Sunday at the Bacon Funeral Home. The Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is in charge of arrangements.
