Deanna Kay Stone, 69 of Ames, passed away Tuesday, June 20, 2017, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Deanna was born July 21, 1947, in Ames the daughter of Clifford and Minnie (Klaver) Bates. She graduated from Ames High School in 1965 and AIB in 1967. On January 6, 1968, Deanna was united in marriage to Dennis Stone, of Roland, Iowa, in Ames. They lived the first seven months of their marriage in Colorado Springs, Colorado where Dennis was stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado. They moved to Marshalltown, Iowa. Deanna worked for Western Manufacturing Corporation as an accountant. Deanna and Dennis retired in 1999 and moved to Ames. For the past seventeen years, they have wintered in Rancho Mirage, California. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ames and a former member of the First Congregational Church in Marshalltown. Deanna was a veracious reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles, golfing, boating and traveling. Deanna is survived by her husband, Dennis of Ames; her son Clint (Tawnya) Stone of Robins, IA; her daughter, Dena Eischen of Clive; her brother, Douglas (Connie) Bates of Ames; four grandchildren: Caleb and Kaitlyn Stone and Kylie and Henry Eischen. She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Clifford Bates. Visitation will be 3- 5 pm, Sunday at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Memorial services will be 10:30 am, Monday, June 26th, at the First United Methodist Church in Ames. Inurnment will be at the Roland Cemetery in Roland. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society (LLS.org). Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
