Obituary

Dorothy Larkey, 88, of Story City, formerly of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Bethany Life Community in Story City. Dorothy was born October 14, 1925, in Maquoketa the daughter of Willard and Daisy (Templeton) Larkey. She graduated from Loss Nation High School and was a member of CrossRoad Baptist Church in Ames. Dorothy enjoyed crafts, crocheting and sewing. Dorothy is survived by her son, Jimmy Mayfield of Toronto, Iowa; her daughters, Shirley Stutzman of North Liberty, Iowa, Rita Turner of Galveston, Texas and Judith Hanson of Denver, Colorado; 19 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Johnny Mayfield; a daughter, Virginia Mecham; two brothers; and one sister. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2014, at CrossRoad Baptist Church in Ames. Inurnment will follow at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada. Memorial contributions may be made to CrossRoad Baptist Church in loving memory of Dorothy. Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
