Enid "Patty" McCord, 89, of Maxwell, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Bethany Manor in Story City. Patty was born July 28, 1924, to Sid and Hazel (Cooper) Sherman. She graduated from Maxwell High School in 1942 and was united in marriage to Stuart McCord in 1947. Patty attended nursing school and worked as a registered nurse for Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. She was a member of the Maxwell Presbyterian Church, 50 year member of the Maxwell Women's Club and Mothers Club. Patty was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed traveling and swimming. Patty is survived by her sons, Stuart (Beth) McCord of Lawton, IA and Michael (Julie) McCord of Ankeny; four grandchildren, Joe McCord, Ben (Amanda) McCord, TJ (Kaylan) McCord and Callie (Daymond) Pederson; three great-grandchildren, Miles, Perry and Haylee. Patty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sons, Gordon, Max and Miles; and two brothers. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, January 18, 2014, at Bacon Funeral Home, 1418 Fawcett Parkway in Nevada with Pastor Ian McMullen officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Maxwell Cemetery in Maxwell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell Presbyterian Church in loving memory of Patty. Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
