Erma Ockenga, 92, of Nevada, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Erma was born August 24, 1923, in Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of August and Ida (Henning) Meseck. On December 19, 1943, she was united in marriage to Joseph Ockenga in Coleman, South Dakota. Erma enjoyed needlepoint, crocheting and spending time with her family. Erma is survived by her son, Joel (Debbie) Ockenga; her daughter, Roxanne (Dan) Phillips; her grandchildren: Shelley Jurgens, Stacie (Joe) Walker, Tracie (Cory) Sievers, Tommy (Krista) Bramley, Phillip Bramley, Amber (Tommy) Flinn, Erin Phillips and her fiancé Michael Greenlee and Quinton Ockenga; 11 great-grandchildren. Erma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two daughters: Joy Haaland and Rita Wolf; two brothers; and three sisters. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, July 25, at the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nevada with burial to follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery near Nevada.
