Freda Marie Prati, 88, of Nevada, Iowa, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Nevada. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Bacon Funeral Home with a Rosary at 7:00 PM. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Freda was born April 24, 1925, in Riolunato, Italy, the daughter of Sesto and Ermelinda Rocchi. She came to the United States at the age of three months. She was united in marriage to Reis Prati, October 2, 1941, at St. Patrick's Church in Nevada. She was member of St. Patrick's, St. Anne's Study Club, and the Vittoria Lodge Auxiliary of Ankeny. Freda worked at R.H. Donnelly Corporation for many years. She loved her family and her grandchildren and helping others. Music played an important part in Freda's life. She and Reis enjoyed many dances, especially those Italian waltzes and polkas. She also enjoyed Italian cooking and traveling. They enjoyed many bus trips and made several trips to Italy to visit family. For three years Freda made Story County Senior Care her home. She was very happy there and had many friends. She really engaged in all their activities, especially Bingo. Freda is survived by four children: Anita (Gary) Bates of Ames; Richard (Dianna) Prati of Eagle Pass, Texas; Angela (Steven) Sawyers of Marion, Iowa, and Randy (Shelley) Prati of Urbandale, Iowa; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents and husband Reis in March of 2007.
