Harold E. Lyon, 91, of Colo, Iowa died Saturday, March 5, 2005 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames.
Harold was born December 28, 1913 in Webster City, Iowa the son of Wyatt and Alda (McFarland) Lyon. He was united in marriage to Jennie Hackworth on August 23, 1940 in Des Moines. He was a member of the United Methodist Church inn Colo, the Gideons, and was a former member of Lions Club, a Sunday School Teacher, and President of Farm Bureau. Harold graduated from Webster City High School and attended one year of Junior College in Blairsburg. He farmed in Colo, Iowa for many years and later worked as a dispatcher at Iowa State University in Ames.
He is survived by his wife, Jennie of Colo; 3 children: Dale (Pat) Lyon of Shakopee, Minnesota, Mark (Reta) Lyon of Nevada, Iowa, Carolyn (Pat) Haws of Ankeny, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; 1 brother, Bob Lyon of Chicago, Illinois; and 2 sisters: Doris Jones of Colorado and Jean Schwertly of Ames, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Don; a sister, Mary; a niece and a nephew.
