Ilene Jennings, 84, of Nevada, passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016, at her home in Nevada. Ilene was born December 1, 1931, in Fernald to Clifford and Vivian (Smith) Picht. She graduated from Fernald High School and Waldorf College. Ilene was united in marriage to Mervin Jennings on June 6, 1953, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fernald. She was an active member of Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada where she enjoyed singing in the choir, and involved with many quilting groups: S&B Quilting, Pickles, Just Friends and the Iowa Quilters Guild and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. Ilene enjoyed quilting and sewing, reading and was an Iowa State Cyclones fan. Ilene is survived by her children: Stephen (Deb) Jennings of Nevada, Brian (Denise) Jennings of Onawa, Vicki Meints of Sheffield and Jean (Aaron) Borton of Nevada; 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; her sisters: Lois (Art) Svestka of Cresco and Clarise (Leon) Smith of Signal Mountain, TN; and her brother, Cliff Picht of Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a son-in-law, Wendell Meints. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday, June 6, at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, at Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Private inurnment will be at Center Grove Cemetery near Cambridge.
