STATE CENTER - James "Jim" Robert Holmes, 65, of State Center, Iowa, died Thursday, December 14, 2006 at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Jim was born January 13, 1941 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, the son of Wilbur and Alyce (Kraemer) Holmes. Jim's mother, Alyce died when Jim was four years old, and his father later married Lera, who Jim came to know and love as "Mom". After graduating from high school, Jim served in the Navy from 1958 to 1964. Jim was united in marriage to Resa Sampson on December 8, 1990 in Bonanza, Utah. Jim was a truck driver who loved roaming the countryside and looking at nature. Jim also enjoyed fishing and Green Bay Packer football. Jim is survived by his wife, Resa, of State Center; 3 sons: Lando Holmes of Rhodes, Iowa, Kevin Moore and Kent Moore, both of Kearns, Utah; 5 daughters: Jamie Wieneke of Cold Springs, Minnesota, Niccole Holmes of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, Courtney Savage of Two Rivers, Wisconsin, Teresa McDonnell of Kingwood, Texas, Jodi Lowrey of Evanston, Wyoming; 23 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and 2 sisters: Sandra Strohm of Two Rivers, Wisconsin and J'Ette Siebold of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jim was preceded in death by his Parents, his Mom; a daughter: Camryn Holmes; a grandson: Channing Holmes; a sister: Sharon Holmes; and 3 brothers: Billie Holmes, Jackie Holmes and Bobby Holmes. Visitation with the family will be 4:00 - 6:00 pm Monday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. A Service of Remembrance will be held at 6:00 pm. Cremation will follow the service. Memorials may be made to Israel Family Hospice House in honor of Jim. The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is handling arrangements.
