NEVADA - Jerry Lee Fisher, 64, of Nevada, formerly of Des Moines, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa.
Jerry was born January 14, 1944, the son of Russell and Thelma (Deeds) Fisher. He graduated from Des Moines Technical High School in 1962. Jerry served in the Army as a Medical Tech and served in Vietnam and Korea. Jerry had worked at Firestone in Des Moines and also for PCI Security before retiring. He was united in marriage to Marcella Jean Sharr on May 6, 1986. Marcella preceded Jerry in death on September 2, 2002. Jerry was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed reading, movies, fishing and collecting stuff.
He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Gary (Brenda) Fisher of Norwalk, Iowa; a step-son: Marc Sharr of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter and son-in-law: Tina (Marde) Austin of Altoona, Iowa; a step-daughter: Jennifer Sharr of Des Moines, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Tony, Dana, Ashley, Skyler, Aaron, C.J.; his step-father: Darvin Hicks of Nevada, Iowa; and 2 sisters: Marlys Breeden of Altoona, Iowa and Chris Galpin of Des Moines, Iowa.
Jerry was preceded in death by his father, his mother, and his wife.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6:00 - 8:00 PM Friday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
