ANKENY - Karen Kay Potter, 64, of Ankeny, formerly of Nevada, died February 18, 2006 at her home in Ankeny.
Karen was born April 4, 1941 in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Johnny and Mardelle (Guyer) Hoffman. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Potter July 2, 1960 in Waterloo, Iowa. Bob preceded Karen in death October 29, 2003. Karen had worked as the receptionist for Story County Hospital in Nevada and then for Donnelley Marketing for many years. She enjoyed working with crafts, camping and traveling.
Karen is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: John (DeAnn) Potter of Hubbard, Iowa; two daughters and a son-in-law: Kayla (John) Arden of California, Mardelle Potter of Ankeny, Iowa; 8 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; her mother, Mardelle Akin of Waterloo, Iowa; 2 brothers: Jack Hoffman of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Dick Hoffman of Estherville, Iowa; and a sister: Meredith Munson of Golden City, Missouri.
Her father and husband preceded Karen in death.
Funeral services will be 1:30 PM Thursday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Visitation will be 7:00 -9:00 PM Wednesday at the Bacon Funeral Home.
