Kongnam Phakonekham, 72 of Nevada, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2018, at his home in Nevada. Kongnam was born March 16, 1945, in Laos, the son of Phon and Pae Phakonekham. He served as a captain in the Laos Army from 1963-1975. In 1996 Kongnam moved to the United States where he worked as a laboror at Swift Meat Packing in Marshalltown. In his free time, Kongnam enjoyed fishing. Kongnam is survived by his wife, Chanh of Nevada and his son, Phoumphouang Phakonekham of Nevada. He was preceded in death by his parents. Buddhist Prayer Service will be 4 p.m. Monday, February 5, at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Cremation will follow the service. Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
