AMES - Lorella P. Maurer, 89, of Ames died Friday, April 13, 2007 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, from injuries from a car accident Wednesday morning.
Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, April 17, 2006 at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Nevada. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:30 - 8:30 PM Monday with a Christian Vigil Service at 7:00 PM at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada.
Lorella Pauline Boller was born July 1, 1917, in Nevada, Iowa, the daughter of Walter Richard ("Dick") and Florence (Allen) Boller. She attended Nevada Schools and was a life-long sports fan. She was united in marriage to C. W. "Bill" Maurer on January 1, 1937 in Nevada. They moved to Ames where he practiced law for many years. She enjoyed driving and providing transportation for the Sisters of Mercy in Ames. She was a great fan of I.S.U. Women's Basketball.
Lorella is survived by her two children: Mary Anne Maurer (Steve Smith) of Park Rapids, MN; her son Charles Maurer, Jr., Of Cambridge, Massachusetts; two sisters: Florence Jeanette ("June") Terrell of Madrid, Iowa, and Betty (Ralph) Lehman of Nevada, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bill, in 1990; 3 brothers: Allen, Max and Jack; and her sisters: Grace, Gladys, Loretta and Phyllis.
The Lorella P. Maurer Memorial Fund has been established to be used for I.S.U. Women's Basketball. Donations may be sent to First National Bank of Ames, 405 5th. Street, Ames, Iowa 50010.
