Margaret Irene Elliott, 93, of Ames, Iowa, died Friday, December 18, 2009, at Green Hills Health Care Center in Ames. Services will be at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada, Iowa with visitation from 5:30 to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 8th. Burial will be at the White Oak Cemetery. Margaret was born near Mingo, Iowa on January 12, 1916, the daughter of Keith and Pansy (Hays) Munson. She was united in marriage to James Elliott on April 5, 1930. He preceded her in death on July 12, 2007. Margaret enjoyed farming and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Cambridge Methodist Church; a charter member of the "URS and Mine Club"; she and Jim enjoyed wintering in Texas. She sang in the choir at the church she attended in Texas. Margaret was an excellent cook and loved flowers, especially roses. Survivors include six children: Maxine Baker of Windsor, California; Kathryn Yount of Dixon, Illinois; Shirley Kratoska of Iowa City, Iowa; Sandra (Duane) Thompson of Kelley, Iowa; Tom (Barbara) Elliott of Slater, Iowa and Norma Washington of Nevada, Iowa; eighteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband: James; one son: Richard in infancy; two brothers: Bud Munson and Dale Munson. Memorials may be given to Cambridge Methodist Church.
