Mary Margaret Edwards, 87, of Ames passed away Sunday, December 19, 2010, at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. Mary was born February 4, 1923, at Waterloo to Ralph and Dolorosa (Fox) Schmitt. She married Dale Edwards on February 13, 1942, at Waterloo. Mary retired from the State of Iowa where she worked as a payroll clerk. She enjoyed oil painting and crafts. Mary is survived by her children, William Dale (Mary) Edwards of Davenport, Patricia Jo (James) Howes of Cedar Rapids, Julie Anne (Steve) Bovenmyer of Ames, D. Marie Edwards of Ames and Nancy Jo (Roy) Moore of Austin, TX; her sister, Donna Maringer of San Diego, CA; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Dale; her parents; her sister, Betty; two brothers, Jim and Richard. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2010, at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames with Father Jim Secora officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia Parish Music Fund. Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada is handling arrangements.
