Verle Margaret Gill, 94, of Rolling Green Village in Nevada, formerly of Cambridge, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.
Verle was born April 23, 1911 in Shell Rock, Iowa, the daughter of Tom and Anne (Cooney) Gill. In Verle's early years she worked at the war ordinance plant. After finishing beauty school she operated a solon out of her home. Not only a beautician by day, she worked nights as an Inspector at Bourns in Ames. Verle retired in early 1980.
Verle spent many hours caring for her parents until they departed. She loved her dogs along with working outside with her flowers and having a large garden until 2001 when she went to Rolling Green Village Nursing Home.
Verle is survived by a cousin, Betty Zahn, and many friends.
Verle was preceded in death by her father, Tom Gill, her mother, Anne Gill, and her aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 1:30 pm Wednesday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell with Father Michael Amadeo officiating. Burial will be in the Cambridge Cemetery. A time of fellowship and refreshment will be held at the Dorcas Hall in Cambridge following the committal service.
Visitation will be open at the Bacon Funeral Home Tuesday 3:00 - 8:30 pm.
