ELDORA - Walter A. Gaedke, 96, of Eldora, formerly of Colo, died Tuesday, April 24, 2007 at the Eldora Nursing and Rehab Center where he had been a resident for the past few years. Walter was born March 11, 1911 in Parkers Prairie, Minnesota, the son of Fredrick W. and Augusta Kuehn Gaedke. He was united in marriage to Hermina Anna Martha Fritz on November 2, 1933 in Leaf Valley, Minnesota. Hermina preceded Walter in death June 19, 2002. Walter had worked on the railroad for 10 years, farmed for several years near Algona, and worked for the city of Alexandria, Minnesota for over twenty years. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center. Walter is survived by his son: Marcel (Margaret) Gaedke of Colo, IA, his daughter: Bobette Matzen of Ames, IA; a daughter-in-law: Lugene Gaedke of Radcliff, IA; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son: James; 3 brothers and 8 sisters. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, April 27, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center, IA. Burial will be in the Nevada Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 5:00 - 8:00 PM Thursday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in State Center.
