Obituary

William "Bill" Twohey, 87, of Maxwell, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at his home in Maxwell. Bill was born March 28, 1925, in Little Rock, AR to William and Esther (Crudginton) Twohey. He graduated from Poplar Bluff, MO in 1943 and served in the United States Army. Bill was united in marriage to Hyldren Dale on February 14, 1945. Hyldren passed away in 1981 and he later married Wanda Bills on September 26, 1987. Wanda passed away in 2005. Bill managed various country clubs in Arkansas and Iowa and worked for Hy-Vee Deli until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed playing in various bands, woodworking and playing Santa for the Maxwell Bank. Bill is survived by his children, Billie (Duane) Rundall of Cedar Rapids, Jerrie (Skeeter) Wilson of Story City, Stephen (Pam) Twohey of Collins and Tim (Irene) Twohey of Mitchellville; ten grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; and his sister, Carol. Per Bill's wishes, he has been cremated and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Maxwell First Responders or WesleyLife Hospice. Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell is handling arrangements. Bill's family would like to extend a special thank you to all his neighbors, the Maxwell State Bank, the VA Hospital and WesleyLife Hospice for all the wonderful care received. This last part is for my neighbors and friends. I leave you with this: "All through life, pitch pennies in the pot, so that in your old age, you'll have a pot to pitch in. Amen.
