NEVADA - Alice Helen Cook, 96, died November 11, 2007 at Story County Long Term Care in Nevada, Iowa. Services will be Wednesday, November 14th, 10:30 AM at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell. Burial will be in the Cambridge Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13th from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Alice was born December 24, 1910 at Madrid, Iowa to Nels and Edith (Hallstrom) Nelson. She graduated from Gilbert High School in 1930 and was united in marriage to Lester Cook on May 11, 1933 in Nevada. Lester preceded her in death, April 23, 1976. Alice was a homemaker, a member of the Cambridge United Methodist Church; United Methodist Women; Garden Club and The Bridge Club. She loved her family and grandchildren and enjoyed crocheting and sewing. Alice is survived by a son: Duane (Donna) Cook of Cambridge, Iowa; two daughters: Janis Hennick and Judy Patterson both of Cambridge, Iowa; 6 grandchildren: Dean and Tammy Hennick, Virginia and Dan Compton, Dale and Laura Hennick, Cora and Bret Flickinger, Justine and Tim Larsen, Julee and Nick Hilgenberg; 16 great-grandchildren: Jeanna, Kayte, Devon, Aidan, Brittany, Cory, Brooke, Brent, Garrett, Alex, Caleb, Braden, Jamison, Olivia, Samantha and Lucas; two brothers: August Nelson of Iowa Center, Iowa and Raymond Nelson of St. Anthony, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; two grandchildren: Cynthia Cook and Kirk Crabtree; six brothers and four sisters. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to Story County Long Term Care in Nevada. Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
