Obituary

Alice "Jean" Jennett, 100 of Nevada, died Monday, December 7, 2020, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Jean was born August 23, 1920, in Norwalk, Iowa the daughter of Foster and Blanche (Strain) Webb. She graduated from East High in 1936 at age 15 and worked as the executive secretary to the state director in the Iowa Public Welfare office. Jean met her future husband, Gerald Nicholas Jennett through a rural youth organization. The spark was lit when he was serving as president and she was serving as vice president. The couple was married on June 14, 1953, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Elkhart, Iowa. Jean was a devoted member of Loring United Methodist Church. She served as lay-leader and taught Sunday School for many years. Jean was known for baking, especially her cinnamon rolls and birthday cakes. She will also be remembered for being an exceptional cook. Jean is survived by her sons, Nick, and John Jennett of Nevada; 24 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Joseph, and Paul Webb; and her sisters, Mary Katherine (in infancy) and Louise Silver. A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday, December 10 at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery in Nevada with Pastor Gina Spohnheimer officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to Loring United Methodist Church or the Variety Club of Iowa. Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
