Obituary

Amelia Margaret Schoppe Dehner peacefully passed away on September 22, 2020 after a courageous 3.5-year battle with cancer. She was blessed to have her family by her side. Amelia was born on November 8, 1939, in Ames, IA, and lived in Iowa her entire life. She was married to Richard Schoppe for 7 years, and they had 4 sons and 1 daughter. After Richard died, she met Victor Dehner and his 3 daughters. Amelia and Vic were married on May 9th, 1965, and resided in Nevada, IA where they raised their 8 children. Amelia was devoted to her family and instilled in her children a love for music, reading, learning, and doing your very best in whatever you do. She taught by example the importance of volunteering your time and resources to help others in your community. Amelia was an avid, talented quilter and a member in several quilting groups. She enjoyed teaching and sharing her love of sewing with many others. Her quilts are truly works of art. She was preceded in death by her first husband Richard Schoppe, and her parents Glen and Sarah Myers. Amelia is survived by her husband of 55 years, Victor Dehner; children Dean (Rhonda) Schoppe, Randy (Anita) Schoppe, Kelly Dehner, Peggy (Kris) Kropf, Tim (Diana) Schoppe, Shelly (Scott) Nibe, Gordon (Michele) Schoppe, Vicky Kelly; brother Gene (Mary Beth) Myers; sister Phyllis Myers; grandchildren Christi, Michael, Randen, Rhett, Ryan, Aaron, Chad, Morgan, Carson, Sarah, Marquette and Grace; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. At her request, no service will be held. Amelia's family would like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful, caring staff at the Israel Hospice House in Ames, IA, and ask that memorial contributions be made in her name in lieu of flowers. Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.rasmussonfh.com
