Amie Marie Cerka, born on May 12, 1977, in Marshalltown, Iowa, left this world on February 12, 2026, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa. She will be profoundly missed by her family and friends who cherished her spirit and kindness.
Amie graduated from West Marshall High School in 1995 and dedicated herself to various endeavors throughout her life. She worked at Stinson's Seafood during her time spent in Maine, showcasing her strong work ethic and commitment. Most notably, for the past 15 years, she served as a legal assistant with the Story County Attorney's Office, contributing her skills to the betterment of her community.
A kind soul, Amie was always there for her family and friends, embodying love and support. Above all, she adored her daughter, Emma, finding joy in the quality time spent with her and her entire family. Amie enjoyed cross-stitching and was also deeply connected to nature, often finding solace at Hendrickson Marsh, where she enjoyed stargazing and reflecting while surrounded by wildlife. She embraced the great outdoors with her hobbies of kayaking and fishing. Her love of sports was evident as she enjoyed playing volleyball, softball, and competed as a hurdler in track. Known for her playful spirit, Amie was always up for arm wrestling, even with the occasional cheeky advantage. Travel was another of Amie's passions; she explored an impressive 44 states, embracing the diverse beauty that each destination offered.
Amie would marry the love of her life, Jeff Cerka, on April 17, 2004, at the Colo United Methodist Church. Together, they created a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and shared memories.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Jeff Cerka of Colo, IA; her daughter, Emma Cerka of Ames, IA; her father, Cyril (Joy) Thill of Rhodes, IA; her mother, Kathy (Tully) Nall of Melbourne, IA; her sister, Roxane Kohlhof of Runnells, IA; step sister, Danial Selin of Oklahoma; nephews Ryan(Jess) and Rayce and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will carry her memory with them.
Amie is preceded in death by her grandparents, cousin Kyle Borota, and uncle Rick Thill. Her legacy of kindness, love, and joy will continue to resonate with those she leaves behind, reminding them of the beautiful life she led and the impact she had on their hearts.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2026 from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada. A funeral service will be held Thursday, February 19, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., also at the funeral home with interment to follow at the Colo Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the Colo United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family to be used for a yet to be determined memorial in Amie's memory.
