Amy Irene
Dadisman
September 18, 1967 – July 8, 2024
Amy was born September 18, 1967, in Monroe, Wisconsin, the daughter of Daniel Lee and Dorothy (Blough) Dadisman. She graduated from Ames High School in 1988 and worked many jobs including Wendy's, McDonald's, ISU cafeteria, Danfoss, and Hach Chemical in Ames.
Amy was a member of Colo United Methodist Church and then Grand Avenue Baptist Church when she moved to Ames. She participated in the Special Olympics through bowling, bocce ball and swimming. Amy had an honorary black belt in Taekwondo and always looked forward to spending time at Camp Wesley Woods.
Amy was known for her fun sarcastic humor, sometimes followed by a karate chop to the shoulder. She loved everyone and expected all to treat others likewise. Hugs were abundant. Amy spent many hours making crafts. She memorized the times and channels of her favorite TV shows. For many years Amy was able to do walks to Walmart to buy her favored Diet Pepsi's. She loved going to Mainstream's Dayhab activity center to see friends, and going to work to be with people helping do important work. She was very miffed when we threw her a retirement party from Hach in 2021 when mobility concerns necessitated. The staff of Mainstream Living were a 24x7 integral factor in Amy's opportunities, learning, fun, activities, and daily living tasks; they were Amy's close family too.
Amy is survived by her parents, Lee and Dorothy; her brothers, Rev. Jeff (Susan) Dadisman of Davenport, and Scott (Jody) Dadisman of West Des Moines; eight nieces and nephews; several grand nieces and nephews; and many staff / friends of her Mainstream Living family. She was preceded in death by her grandparents.
A memorial service for Amy will be held at 11:00am at the Grand Avenue Baptist Church in Ames on Saturday, August 17 with visitation at 10:00am. She will be laid to rest at Murphy Cemetery in rural Nevada.
