Ardella Ann Untrauer, age 94, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Park Centre Senior Living in Newton, Iowa.

Ardella was born on January 6, 1932, in rural Story County, Iowa, the daughter of Patrick Joseph and Margaret Lillian (Peddicord) Carmody. She graduated valedictorian from Zearing High School in 1950 and, later that year on June 12, was united in marriage to Roger John Untrauer in Zearing, IA. Ardella was the first female member of the Colo School Board and was instrumental in the consolidation between Colo and NESCO.

Ardella dedicated 10 years of service to the Corydon Hospital in food service. Her strong faith was evident through her active membership at St. Mary Catholic Church in Colo and St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Coralville. In her free time, she found joy in reading and crocheting. Ardella also was active with 4-H and Boy Scouts.

Ardella is survived by her six sons: Joseph (Carol) Untrauer, Patrick (Chris) Untrauer, Kenneth (TJ) Untrauer, Michael (Eileen) Untrauer, Mark (Rhonda) Untrauer, and Andrew Untrauer; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger; her parents, Patrick and Margaret; her son, Larry Untrauer; a grandson, Roger Eugene Untrauer; a granddaughter, Misty Untrauer; and her sisters, Verda Holveck, Velma Sedlak, Isabelle Jones, Barbara Hart, and Mary Lou Johnson.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, February 9, 2026, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 422 4th Street, in Colo, IA, with Father Richmond Dzekoe officiating. Family will greet friends at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. until 11 a.m. Ardella will be laid to rest at St. James Cemetery in Colo.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Roger's Smile, Inc., P.O. Box 73, McCordsville, IN 46055 in memory of Ardella.
