Barbara Jean Robinett, (White), passed away peacefully on June 8, 2026, at Windsor Manor in Nevada, Iowa. Born on April 19, 1945, in Des Moines, Iowa, Barbara lived a life filled with devotion to her family, a passion for her career, and a love for the simple joys that brought warmth and color to her days.
Barbara graduated from Collins High School in 1963 and subsequently attended Bernell's School of Cosmetology in Ames. She began her professional journey as a dedicated mother, nurturing her family with unwavering love and care. Later, she fulfilled her entrepreneurial spirit by owning her own beauty shop in Collins before advancing to become the manager of Great Clips in Ames, where her expertise and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on clients and colleagues alike.
United in marriage to Michael Lee Robinett on June 22, 1963, in Nevada, Iowa, Barbara shared over six decades of partnership, companionship, and mutual support with her beloved husband, Mike of Collins. Together, they built a family grounded in love and steadfast commitment.
Barbara was a woman of many interests and talents. Her fondness for horses, photography, crafts, painting, sewing, and knitting enriched her life and those around her. She delighted in traveling, with a special affection for the majestic mountains of Colorado and Wyoming and found peace and happiness fishing with the grandkids at the farm pond. Her creativity and zest for life inspired those who knew her.
Above all, Barbara took immense pride in her role as a grandmother. She was a steadfast supporter of her grandchildren, often found cheering them on at their various activities, always with cookies or Subway in hand. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and encouragement to Shane (Emily) Robinett, Seth Robinett, Jessica Robinett, Brittany Robinett (Nate Novotny), and Laken Duffy. She also cherished her great-grandchildren Weston and Vivian Robinett, Ava Miller, Boone and Bo Robinett, and Briggs, and Chayton Novotny.
Barbara's surviving family includes her sons Jeff (Chris) Robinett of Maxwell and Joel “Joe” (Sydney) Robinett of Newton. She is also survived by her brother Kevin (Monica) White of Mitchellville and her sister Joyce White of Des Moines. They remember her as a great mom and wife who enriched their lives with kindness and strength.
Preceding Barbara in death were her parents Cecil and Juanita (Holsinger) White and her brother David White.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate Barbara Jean Robinett’s life will be held on Monday, June 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home, located at 1418 Fawcett Parkway, Nevada, Iowa. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins, Iowa. Barbara’s legacy of love, creativity, and commitment to family will be remembered and cherished by all who knew her.
Barbara Jean Robinett will be remembered fondly not only for her achievements but for the gentle and generous spirit that shaped her life and those she loved. May her memory be a blessing to her family and friends.
