Becky Jo Mennes, 56, of Maxwell, Iowa died peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 26, 2007. Services will be Sunday, September 30, 2007, 8:00 PM at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell with visitation 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM prior to the service. Becky was born January 9, 1951 in Ames, Iowa to Elmer LaVern and Marilyn Edith (Hagen) Markley. She was married to Thomas Merrill Mennes in Cambridge, Iowa on January 14, 1967. Together they have four beautiful daughters: Gail Marie, Julie Ann (Chad), Tonya Kay, Jennifer Lynn (Jessie) all of Maxwell; five granddaughters: Mariya, Page, Katie, Alora and Stephanie; and one grandson, Carlton. She was a surrogate grandmother to many. Becky was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Bowling Association. She loved being with people and was always ready to help others. She was known for her unconditional love for everyone. She enjoyed dancing, bowling and loved laughter. She loved life. Survivors include one sister, Edie (Greg) Hughes of Solon; four brothers: Terry (Romelle) Markley of Maxwell, Gary Markley of Maxwell, Steve Markley of Sonora, California and Clint Markley of Solon, Iowa and one very special life-long friend, Sandy Ball of Nevada. Becky was preceded in death by her parents and many other loved ones. Bacon Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
