Billie Irene
Watertor
April 9, 1940 – April 26, 2026
Billie Irene Watertor, 86, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Story County Senior Care in Nevada.
Billie was born April 9, 1940, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, to Frank and Lottie (Gray) Longcor. She graduated from Oskaloosa High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart, William Watertor, on June 29, 1958. Together they shared 67 wonderful years of marriage.
Over the years Billie held many roles, always with a steady work ethic and a caring heart. She worked as a carhop on roller skates at Putt's Drive-In, provided childcare for friends and for her grandchildren, worked in the school cafeteria, and held positions at Ambrose's Gift Gallery as the manager and Accurate Auto Trim as a car upholsterer.
Billie's faith was central to her life. She was a member of Ames First United Methodist Church and was formerly a member of Nevada First United Methodist Church, where she was active with Bithiah Circle and the Prayer Chain.
An accomplished artist, Billie painted countless pieces for her family, created murals at her church, and even painted on her grandchildren's bedroom walls. She also expressed her creativity through cake decorating for birthdays and holidays. A talented seamstress, she lovingly sewed clothing for her children and grandchildren. Billie delighted in sending notes of encouragement and cards, beautifully documenting special days with her memorable penmanship.
Billie will be remembered for greeting everyone with unconditional love and a big hug.
Billie is survived by her husband, William Watertor; her children, Brett (Joan) Watertor of Nevada and Brenda (Doug) Couser of Nevada; four grandchildren, Zachary (Jessica) Watertor of Nevada, Jason (Sarah) Couser of Collins, Patrick (Nellija) Watertor of Newton, and Brooke (Aimee) Delpierre of Ankeny; her great-grandchildren, Asher, Zoey, Jonah, Ezra, Levi, Axel, Raylan and Ailey; her sister, Mildred Rea of Nevada; her brother, John Longcor of Ankeny; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lottie Longcor; her sisters, Isabelle Miller and Frances Johnson; her sisters-in-law, Barbara Wright and Madeline Watertor; and her brother-in-law, Matthew Rea.
