Braden (Brady) Lowell Huffaker, age 27, died peacefully at his family home in Ames, Iowa on July 26, 2021 following a lengthy illness. He was born to Jill (Yeazel) Brown and Edward Huffaker on March 1, 1994. The oldest of three, he loved spending time with his brother, Nick, sister, Brooke, his two nephews, Liam and Levi, and his other family and friends. He especially enjoyed road trips and adventures with his best buddy, Grandpa Huffaker. Brady grew up in Ames and Story City and graduated from Roland-Story High School in 2013.
Brady enjoyed painting and drawing and was an avid collector of many things including baseball cards, coins, stamps, knives, and miniatures. The comedian in the family, Brady's witty sense of humor often had his family in stitches. He loved creating catchy and memorable rhymes and word repetitions, and he was quick to deliver a quote from a favorite movie or song lyric. Brady is remembered for his tender heart and youthful spirit. He especially loved the Christmas season and giving gifts to his family.
Brady was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. He was taken far too soon, but heaven has gained a beautiful soul and Braden is finally free of pain and suffering. Brady is survived by his mother and stepfather, Jill and Michael Brown of Ames; his father Edward Huffaker of Nevada; his brother Nicholas (Alexis) Huffaker of Ellsworth and nephews, Liam and Levi; his sister, Brooke Huffaker of Ames; his brother Jed (Jackie) Byers of Ames and nephews, Blane and Cal and nieces, Brynn and Blair; his sister Samantha (Fortner) Moyer (Andrew) of Spokane, Washington; his grandfather Kenneth Huffaker of Nevada; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, M. Ellouise (Riley) Huffaker, Shirley (Lange) Yeazel, and Gerald Yeazel.
Brady's visitation will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Ames on Friday, August 6 from 5 – 7 pm and on Saturday, August 7 from 9:30 – 10:30 am. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Cecilia at 10:30 am on August 7 officiated by Father Don Czapla with the interment to follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins, Iowa.
