Brent Austin Bappe, 46 of Colo, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at his home in Colo.

Brent was born August 17, 1976, in Ames, Iowa, the son of John Austin and Carol Jean (Stevens) Bappe. He graduated from Colo-NESCO High School in 1995 and was united in marriage to Regan Nicole Morales on June 11, 2011, in Frisco, TX. Brent had worked for Pittsburgh Paints at stores in Iowa City, San Angelo, TX, and Urbandale. In 2019, he earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Iowa and worked 1 ½ years for Iowa Workforce. The last six months, Brent worked for Iowa Select Farms in the HR department.

Brent created lifelong friendships and meaningful connections through his humor, zest for life, and positive outlook. Brent was a man devoted to his wife, family, and friends. In 2020, Brent stepped into servant leadership as the Mayor of Colo and was re-elected to his first term shortly after. He deeply loved the opportunity to serve the community of Colo. Brent enjoyed grilling and smoking meat, target shooting and was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Brent is survived by his wife, Regan of Colo; his parents, John and Carol Bappe of Colo; his beloved dog, Jack; his brother, Patrick Sodders of Florida; his sister, Kelli (Dave) Peterson of Ames; his nephews, Austin and Seth Sodders; and his niece, Macie McDaniel. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Virgil and Margaret Bappe; his maternal grandparents, Donald and Verla Stevens; his aunts, Carol Miller, Violet Davis, Lori Sheely and Jo Riney; and his uncle, Larry Bappe.

A gathering of friends and family will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Willow Brook Barn (408 Progress Dr), in Colo. A meal will be provided. Brent will be laid to rest at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family in memory of Brent.
