Carl D. Cory, 73, of Maxwell, passed away Friday, December 30, 2016, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Carl was born May 15, 1943, in Des Moines the son of Ariel and Vilda (Kendig) Cory. He graduated from North Polk High School and was united in marriage to Connie Pyle on May 20, 1967, in Maxwell. Carl served in the United States Army and was a member of the Maxwell Legion and VFW. He enjoyed coffee with friends and spending time with his family. Carl is survived by his children: Matthew Cory of Maxwell and Melissa Cory of Maxwell; two grandchildren: Austin Cory and Miranda Cory; his sister, Marlene Upchurch of Ames and his sister-in-law, Michelle Cairns (Tim Hinderks) of Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 2014 and a sister, Wanda Johnson. Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 3 at Rasmusson-Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell with Pastor Ian McMullen officiating. Family will greet friends two hours prior to the service. Cremation will follow services and inurnment will be at a later date at Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bliss Cancer Center.
