Carolyn Raquel Thomas, 74, of Colo, formerly of Princeton, Kentucky, passed away Friday, January 17, 2015, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Raquel was born March 17, 1940, in Princeton, Kentucky, the daughter of Byron and Mildred Noman (Greer) Williams. She graduated from Princeton High School and was united in marriage to Billie Joe Thomas on September 8, 1959. Raquel earned her nursing degree from the University of Evansville and was a nurse for many years at Caldwell County Hospital in Kentucky. She was very active in her church and had made many mission trips to Brazil. Raquel enjoyed playing cards at the Colo Community Center and was an avid volunteer. Raquel is survived by her husband, Billie Joe of Colo; her daughters, Barbara (Dr. Robert) Fears of Ames and Beth (Dr. Tim) Faul of Brazil; her son, Brian Thomas of Nevada; her sister, Rhonda Sweeney of Oakland, KY; four grandchildren, Jessica Fears, Lauren Brown, Victoria and Christiana Faul; and one great-grandson, Daniel Fears-Burgess. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother in infancy. Raquel has been cremated and memorial services will be held in her home state of Kentucky. Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
