Charles "Charlie" Larson, 78, of Ames, passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 1 at Rasmusson Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2 also at the funeral home with Pastor David Burling officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Charlie was born March 14, 1940, in Nevada, the son of Henry Virgil and Gwendolyn Grace (Mayo) Larson. He graduated from Milford High School in 1958 and was united in marriage to Mary Beth Gerholdt on February 15, 1995, in Las Vegas, Nevada. Charlie owned and operated ZZZZ Best Auto in Ames for the last 30 years. He enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and animals (especially cats and feeding the squirrels). Charlie is survived by his wife, Mary of Ames; his son, Dallas (Pam) Larson of Huxley; his daughter, Mindee Larson of Martinez, CA; his grandchildren: Benjamin (Lacy) Larson-Walker, Courtney (Tyler) Lowy and Ross Larson; his great-grandchildren: Graham and Emmersyn; and his sisters: MaryKay Larson of Austin, TX and Anne (Carl) Gray of Collins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial contributions may be made to the family, and charity will be chosen at a later date.
