Christian Patrick Oswalt, 16 of Ames, died Monday, October 10, 2022, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Christian was born September 16, 2006, in Marshalltown, the son of Bradley G. Oswalt and Mindy S. Speake. Christian was a sophomore at Colo-NESCO High School. He excelled in football, basketball, and track. Christian attended Cornerstone Church of Ames and Collins Christian Church in Collins. He also was a member of the "Escape" Youth Group. While in school, he was a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He loved being with his family and friends, enjoyed all sports and spending time with his nieces and nephews. Christian had a strong love for the Lord, and a desire for those he knew to come to know the Lord.

Christian is survived by his father Brad (fiancée Roanna Weldon) Oswalt of Colo, his mother Mindy (Casey) Speake of Ames; his siblings Caitlin (Nick) Durst and their children Landon Chance and Emory Durst of Huxley; Chase (Tiffany Blunk) Oswalt and their children Jayce and Riley of Ames; Cade Oswalt and Crimson Oswalt, both of Ames; his grandparents: Bill and Pam Hamilton of Hot Springs Village, AR, Linda Speake of Benton, AR, Wanda Oswalt of Zearing, and Sharon Weldon of Knoxville; step siblings, Harley Weldon, Trenton Weldon, Josef (Tiffany) Speake and their children Steven, Maverick and Trice, Amanda Speake and her child Jalynn Speake, Alyssa Speake, David Speake and Ella Speake and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother, Cory Oswalt on July 24, 2005; his grandfathers: Ed Carver in 2018 and Russell Oswalt in 2012 and his uncle Chris Carver in 2003.

A funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Cornerstone Church of Ames (56829 US Highway 30, Ames, IA) with Pastor Mark Vance and Pastor Scott Jones officiating. Family will greet friends from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM prior to the service at the church. Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Collins.
