Christine McDonald, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at MercyOne Medical Center in Des Moines. Christine was born on February 9, 1937, in Centerville, Iowa, the daughter of Eugene and Mary (Bonel) Sacco. She graduated from Centerville High School in 1955.

On November 8, 1958, Christine was united in marriage to Walter McDonald at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Centerville. Their marriage was a testament to love and partnership, marked by devotion to each other and to their family.

Christine was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Nevada, where she participated in study club and found joy in serving her faith community.

A fan of Iowa State football and basketball, Christine also cheered wholeheartedly for the Kansas City Chiefs. Christine was an avid reader, delighting in stories and conversations, especially during her Thursday morning coffee with friends.

Christine enjoyed card club, playing bridge and 500. Her evenings were reserved for Wheel of Fortune; friends and family knew not to interrupt her between 6:30 and 7 p.m.- time she always looked forward to.

Family was always at the center of Christine's life. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, finding immense joy in watching their lives unfold. Christine is survived by her children Denise (Steve) Maze of Cedar Rapids, Steve (Lori) McDonald of Nevada, Karen (Jeff) Burdick of Altoona, and Scott (Becky) McDonald of Slater; grandchildren Allison (Cory) Vancura, Lauren Maze, Tyler (Courtney) McDonald, Katie Burdick, Alex (Josh) Russell, and Harley (Josh) Vestal; great-grandchildren Evelyn Vancura and Baby Russell, expected in December; and her brothers Eugene (Susan) Sacco and Raymond Sacco.

Preceding her in death are her parents Eugene and Mary and her husband Walter.

Christine's legacy endures in the love she gave and her selfless giving through organ donation.

A visitation to honor Christine's life will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Nevada. Graveside services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Nevada, followed by a reception at the church's fellowship hall.
