Obituary

Clifford Don Ludwig Sr., 91 of Webster City, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City.

Cliff was born January 27, 1934, in Harper, Iowa, the son of Joseph Clifford and Ella M. (Pipes) Ludwig. He graduated from Red Oak High School in 1951. In 1953, Cliff enlisted in the United States Army and served until his honorable discharge in 1956. On November 11, 1954, he was united in marriage to Patricia Garrett in Fairfield, Iowa. Cliff worked 32 years as a truck driver for Farmland, retiring in 1993, then went to work 8 ½ years for Van Diest Supply. He was inducted into the Truck Driving Hall of Fame in 1992 for 2 million miles of safe driving.

Cliff and Pat enjoyed traveling to all but 2 states (South Carolina and Delaware). They enjoyed warm winters in Weslaco and Mission, Texas and adventurous summers in Alaska. They were also the campground host at the Ottumwa Campground for 2 seasons. As avid fans of Iowa State Women's Basketball, they held season tickets for 17 years. When Cliff was home, he enjoyed woodworking, crafting things from plaques to squirrel feeders. He especially loved to spend time and attend all the activities that his grandkids and great grandkids were involved in.

Cliff is survived by his wife of 70 years, Pat; his son, Clifford Jr. (Julie); his daughters, Lorna (Brad) Fjelland, Peggy (Craig) Heemsbergen, Barbara (Dana) Linn and Karolee McBride; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; 3 nieces and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Heather Heemsbergen; 2 great-granddaughters, Madison Toftee and Paityn Duvall and a brother, Richard Ludwig and sister-in-law, Nancy Ludwig.

A celebration of Cliff's life will be held in the fall.
