Clifford June Phipps was born March 10, 1941, to Harvey and Velma (Penn) Phipps in Osceola, Iowa and joined The Savior October 30, 2021, at the age of 80 years old, from his family home in Nevada, Iowa. Cliff was united in marriage on March 29, 1964, to the love of his life Cheryl Ann Chew in Osceola. Two daughters blessed this union, Shawn ReNae and Kristen Lea. Cliff was a Vietnam Vet and was honorably discharged from the Army with Good Conduct and Vietnam Service Medals. He made a career as a meat cutter and Meat Market Manager with Fareway Stores Inc. for 33 years and worked in many stores around the state. Throughout his life Cliff enjoyed all things outdoors. He grew up riding horses and belonged to The Saddle Club. He liked hunting, fishing, camping, roller skating, bowling with leagues, playing cards with friends, and farming with his father, father and mother-in-law Dale and Verna Chew, and his son-in-law Mike. Most of all, Cliff loved spending time with his family and watching his grandson Connor's sporting and school events. Cliff never met a stranger and loved nothing more than a good chat with anyone. He worked hard his entire life and was willing to do whatever it took to help out. He was a great man, a dedicated husband, father, father-in-law, and grandfather but most of all he was a beautiful soul. As many say, "he was one of the good ones!" Cliff was preceded in death by his loving parents and sister Corda Bright. He leaves behind to cherish his memory wife Cheryl, daughters, Shawn Phipps of Ames, and Kristen (Michael) Wright of Nevada, and grandson, Connor Lee Clifford Hines also of Nevada. There are numerous relatives and friends left to grieve his absence as well. Not to mention, his side kick and four-legged companion Annie will be lost without him. He will be dearly missed. A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2021, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada with Chaplain Katherine Werner officiating. Family will greet friends beginning at 1:30 p.m. until service time. Private burial will be at the Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada. Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
