Cody James Newsome, born May 11, 1994, in Ames, Iowa, passed away on March 29, 2025 at the age of 30. He was the son of Eugene Newsome and Pamela Howard.

Cody graduated from Nevada High School in 2013 and went on to work alongside his father as an electrician and plumber at Newsome Plumbing in Nevada. Known as an old soul, Cody had a profound love for old music. Cody was full of creativity and joy. He loved making things, making people laugh, and learning new things. Language was his passion.

He loved cooking and always aimed for perfection in his dishes. Cody was kind-hearted and quick to apologize as a child.

His laughter was genuine and reached his eyes. A friend described him as everyone's best cheerleader, always ready to support and uplift others. Cody's life was full of love, laughter, and learning, and we know Cody's memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.

He is survived by his father Eugene (Sherry) Newsome of Nevada, his mother Pamela Newsome of Ames, his sister Ashley (James) Fitzgerald of Palmer, and their children Clarence, Lyndley, and Nial. Cody was preceded in death by his grandparents, LaMar and Catherine Newsome, and Larry and Karen Howard.

A tree planting ceremony to honor Cody's life will be held soon.
