Obituary

Constance S. (Fry) Soesbe passed away at her home in Nevada on January 25, 2025, after battling diabetes and other associated ailments for many years. Constance Sue (Connie) was born September 10, 1952, in Pasadena, California, to John V. and Dorothy Ann (McIntosh) Fry, the sixth of eight children. She graduated from Nevada High School in 1970. In July 1970, she married Rick Williams and they had two sons, Nathan John and Jacob Benjamin. They later divorced. On August 8, 1984, Connie married Stephan Soesbe of Ames. During their nearly 40-year marriage, Connie and Steve enjoyed some great times with family and many, many friends. They were both key to the success of the Ames Slowpitch Softball Association. Connie played a solid third base and was a good hitter. She also enjoyed listening and dancing to good music, especially Motown; reading; watching old movies; cooking; and spending time with her boys and other family playing board games, especially trivia. She and Steve were participants in the inaugural Cy's House of Trivia, taking home the first-place trophy. They were also avid ISU Cyclone fans, especially women's basketball for which they held season tickets for many years. Connie retired in 2014 from a long, successful career with the Story County Recorder's Office.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Steve, brothers Dennis (Janet) and Richard (Lynn) Fry, and sister Sandy (Elwyn) Myhre. She is survived by her sons Nathan and Jay, stepchildren Shannon (Soufyane Mellali) and Stephan, Jr., sisters Carol Dodge and Deb Fry (Doug Wunder), and brothers Mike (Arlene) Fry and Cliff (Linda) Fry, plus her special sister-in-law/friend Sandy (Williams) Olson. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, and her dog Abby.
