Cynthia
Evans
December 7, 1960 – March 24, 2026
Cynthia Ann "Cindy" Evans, 65, of Nevada, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2026, after a brief illness—surrounded by her loving family.
Cindy was born December 7, 1960, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Dwayne Milliken and Connie Loney. From early on, she had a spirited way about her that she carried throughout her life.
She attended Urbandale High School and, with determination, later earned her GED.
On March 4, 1995, Cindy married David Evans in Des Moines. Together they built a life rooted in family, laughter, and everyday moments that mattered.
Cindy loved being creative, especially crafting and making wedding arrangements—and she had an eye for the special touches that made celebrations feel unforgettable. She also enjoyed shopping, playing cards, and spending time outdoors. Above all, she will be remembered for her free spirit, her positive outlook, and the way she could brighten a room simply by being in it.
Cindy is survived by her children, Lucas Schnurr (Amber Otto) of Nevada; Megan (Gerald) Schnurr-Murphy of Simpsonville, South Carolina; April (Scott) Gustofson of Nevada; and Danielle Evans and her fiancé, Ralph Jones, of Colo; her mother, Connie Devine of St. Peters, Missouri; her brother, David Robbins of Patterson; her sister, Julie (Ken) Milliken-Wilburn of O'Fallon, Missouri; and her grandchildren, Logan Schnurr, Parker Schnurr, Jayden Davis, Max Otto, Jackson Otto, Colin Murphy, Zachary Murphy, Gavyn Lumley, Brody Lumley, Koda Lumley, Tatum Gustofson, Alec Venteicher, Remmington Hall, and Isabella Hall.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her father, Dwayne Milliken; and her stepfather, Gaylen Devine.
A celebration of life honoring Cindy will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Community Room at Regency Apartments, 3001 Regency Court, Ames, IA 50010.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in memory of Cindy.
