Dale Richard Swanson, 92 of Nevada, died Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada. Dale was born July 13, 1929, in Hastings, Nebraska, the son of Archie H. and Gladys V. (Schaffer) Swanson. He graduated from Danbury High School in Danbury, Iowa. Dale married Dorothy Martin on August 1, 1954, in Fonda. They made their home in Early before moving to Schaller. Dorothy died in 1995. On April 4, 1997, Dale was united in marriage to Luzviminda Desierto in Rockwell City and together they made their home in Nevada. For much of his life, raising cattle was one of Dale's great joys. At a young age he showed them in Chicago and later made many trips out west to ranches and sale barns to buy cattle. At times he would even accompany his cattle on a train. Dale rented and farmed the headquarters section of the "Adams Ranch" for two years and later purchased the former headquarters site of the "Cook Ranch" both in Sac County. For a time, he had an irrigated farm on the High Plains of Texas and various other business ventures in East Texas. Dale operated Swanson Farms in Story and Sac County. He will be remembered as a simple man. Dale was very loved by his family. Dale is survived by his wife, Luz of Nevada; his children: Rachel Swanson of Nevada, Andy (Mirasol) Swanson of Nevada; Carol (Ed) Poston of Berea, KY, Nicole Swanson of Nevada and Jon Swanson of Nevada; his grandchildren, Cassie Poston, Ian Poston and Asher Swanson; and his sister, Evelyn Crinklaw of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Dorothy; his twin infant sons, Douglas and Dean; and his daughter, Diane Swanson. A visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at the Nevada First United Methodist Church (1036 7th Street) in Nevada with Pastor Mike Carey officiating. A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2022, at the Schaller Cemetery (1397 200th Street) in Schaller. Following the graveside service, there will be a reception at the Schaller Jaycee's Shelter House in Schaller. Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
