Daniel (Dan) Boone Valline, 85, 0f Nevada, Iowa, died Friday, February 17, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Dan was born July 30, 1937 in Nevada, Iowa, the son of Boone and Lenora (Hartnett) Valline. Dan graduated from Nevada High School in 1955. Dan was united in marriage to Bonnie Heasley on September 12, 1959 in Tucson, Arizona.

Dan worked 34 years at the Nevada Post Office, retiring in 1995. After retirement, Dan and Bonnie spent 21 years "wintering" in Zephryhills, Florida until cancer made it time for them to come back and spend winter in Iowa again.

Dan is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Nevada; his 6 children: Jodi Wilkening (Chris), Julee Pederson (Kirk) both of Nevada, Jennifer Valline (Kenny) of Ames, Jim Valline (Diana), Joe Valline (Diamira) and John Valline (Araceli) all of Texas; 10 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; his brothers: Emmett Valline (Barb), Tom Valline (Lori) of Ankeny; his sisters: Virginia (Gee Gee) Rodriquez of Oklahoma, and Paula Wakefield (Bill) of Roland; his sister-in-law: Donna Vitale of Pennsylvania; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters: Donna Rae and Ann Louise; his mother-in-law, Elsie Heasley; and his brothers-in-law: Joe Vitale, Harry, Wilbur, and Robert Heasley of Pennsylvania, and Larry Myers and Joe Rodriquez of Iowa.

A celebration of Dan's life will be Monday, February 20, 2023, from 5:00-7:30PM (a Rosary service will follow) at the Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Parkway, Nevada, Iowa). Mass of the Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at Saint Patrick Catholic Church (1110 11th Street) in Nevada, Iowa. Inurnment will be at Saint Patrick Cemetery in Nevada. A luncheon will follow at the church.
