David Paul Callaway, age 73, of Nevada, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026, at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

Born on September 4, 1952, David was the beloved son of Paul and Ruth (Garrett) Callaway. He graduated from Union-Whitten High School in 1971 and later married Katherine J. Harris on August 13, 1972, beginning a life together filled with family, hard work, and lasting memories. David spent his working years as a dedicated farmer and as an airplane mechanic and inspector, bringing care, skill, and pride to all that he did. He also served his country through the Iowa Army National Guard.

David was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Eldora, Iowa, and the Whitten Community Church.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathy; his children, Cale (Emily) Callaway and Stacey (Mike) Callaway-Hannigan; his grandchildren, Gabriel Callaway and Rachel (Brandon) Terhall; his great-grandchildren, McKinlee and Carter; his sisters, Kay Scott, Shirley Gardner, and Judy Callaway and several beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ruth.

David has been cremated, and no services are planned at this time. He will be laid to rest privately at the Benson Cemetery near Whitten, Iowa.
