Obituary

David Alexander Handsaker, 70 of Colo, passed away Sunday, November 24, 2019, at State Center Nursing & Rehab in State Center. A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 27 at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Pkwy) in Nevada with Pastor Douglas Harding officiating. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow at the Colo Cemetery in Colo. David was born March 22, 1949, in Ames, the son of Johnnie Alexander and Mary Louise (Billman) Handsaker. He graduated from Colo High School in 1967 and was drafted in the United States Army serving during Vietnam. Following his honorable discharge, David returned to the family farm where he spent the rest of his life doing what he loved, farming. He enjoyed attending the Iowa State Fair, the Mid-Iowa Antique Power Show and was a lifetime member of Living History Farms. He also enjoyed collecting antique Oliver tractors. David is survived by his beloved family: Dannie (Judi) Handsaker of Colo, John (Stacey) Handsaker of State Center and their children, Colton and Taylor, and Jerry (Sarah) Handsaker of McCook Lake, South Dakota and their children, Raven and Naomi.
