Obituary

Diane Margaret (Alcorn) Trumbauer, 83, died July 4, 2026, at Windsor Manor of Nevada, Iowa from complications associated with Alzheimer’s. Diane was born May 9, 1943 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, daughter of David and Viola (Koschmeder) Alcorn. She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1961 and was united in marriage to David V. Trumbauer on June 16, 1962, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo.

Upon graduation from high school Diane held several sales and customer service positions in the Cedar Valley. She was an entrepreneur at heart and went on to own and operate several small businesses, including a variety store, furniture store, collectable business, and finally a successful doll repair and restoration business that she operated in Florida until 2022.

Diane was a member of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod since 1962 including membership at St. John’s Lutheran in Denver, Iowa, Faith Lutheran in Lecanto, Florida, Forest Oaks Lutheran in Spring Hill, Florida, and St. Paul Lutheran in Ames, Iowa. Diane served these congregations in several ways over 60 years including, Sunday School Superintendent, Bible School Leader, Kitchen Fellowship, and Women’s Ministry. She served in numerous leadership roles within the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) in both Iowa and Florida.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Mark of Palm City, Florida and daughter Brenda (W. Scott) Dryer of Ames, Iowa, three grandchildren William Michael (Courtney) Dryer of Nevada, Iowa, Katharine Elsa Dryer of Austin, Texas, and Matthew David Dryer of Ames, Iowa, one great grandson, Kaysen Scott Dryer of Nevada, Iowa, twin brother, David Alcorn of Whitsett, North Carolina, as well as other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband, David, her parents, sister Ina Goff, and brother Robert Alcorn.

Services will be held Wednesday, July 8th at 10:30 am at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ames, Iowa. Family will greet guests starting at 10:00 am ahead of the service. Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Jesup, Iowa at a later date. The family has requested no flowers. Memorials will be directed to the LWML Iowa West District, Light that Endures Fund (LWML IWD).
