Obituary

Dixie Jo Ann Hein, 76 of Nevada, died Monday, March 6, 2023, at her home in Nevada, Iowa.

Dixie was born March 20, 1946, in Harrison County, MO, the daughter of James and Stella (Burton) Hunter. She married Carlos Hein in November of 1973. Dixie worked in the service industry for many years and enjoyed helping people throughout her life. She enjoyed riding her motorcycle, country music, unicorns, reading books; especially Stephen King and bonfires. She traveled to Florida for the Seafood Fest. Most important to Dixie was spending time her grandchildren and family.

Dixie is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Ann (BJ) Foley of Nevada, and Shelly Kern of Des Moines, her sons: Arnie Hunter of Nevada, Lonnie Hein, of Des Moines and Bob Green of Nevada, her brothers, John (Nancy) Hunter of Fernald and Jim (Joyce) Hunter of Nevada, 17 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos, her parents, her daughter, Mary Meyers, her brother, Richard Hunter, her sister, Shirley Smith and one great-great grandson.

A celebration of life will be held 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Rasmusson-Ryan Funeral Home (1418 Fawcett Parkway) in Nevada. Burial will be held at a later date at Nevada Municipal Cemetery in Nevada.
